Research Data Management
Introduction
Please see the RDM information provided by the University Library’s Research Services.
Encryption
Depending on the type of data you are storing in the RDS, files should be encrypted when not in use. This applies to:
- Audio and video files that are personally identifiable
- Whole genome or biometric data
- Direct identifiable data: consent forms, contact details
- Weakly pseudonymised data (for example where there is a risk an individual could be re-identified e.g. through data linkage)
Tips of out to encrypt files can be found here:

As a reminder, audio and video files should be transcribed and anonymised before storing them in the RDS
