Connecting to the CSF
Connecting to the CSF
Note: As of 14th January 2016, users will log in to the new login nodes:
csf2.itservices.manchester.ac.uk
This requires your central IT username and central IT password (the same as used for email). You do not need to change this on the CSF.
Computationally Intensive Research (CIR) systems run by the RI Team (such as the CSF, Redqueen, Hydra, iCSF, and Zrek) are accessed in the same way. Detailed instructions on accessing these systems from
GlobalProtect: Note that the CSF can be accessed from off-campus when running GlobalProtect. However, we are aware of access problems with some Internet Service Providers. This is not a problem with the CSF or GlobalProtect. Please see this CSF FAQ for more information.
Forgotten Password
The CSF uses your central IT password (and username). If you need to reset this password please use the IT Account Manager site. Note that this password is used by the University email system and many other services – you will need to use the new password for many other logins.
Logging Out
Once you have finished using the system you should logout (so as not to waste system resources and also for security reasons). Note that you do not need to be logged in for your jobs to run once you have submitted them to the batch system. You can log out by using either of the following commands:
logout
exit
Off Campus Access
The CSF is not directly accessible from off-campus and it is not possible to directly access computers which are off-campus from the CSF. Please see our off campus access instructions for futher information.
