The aim of MEGAN is to provide a tool for studying the taxonomic content of a set of DNA reads, typically collected in a metagenomics project. MEGAN is suitable for DNA reads (metagenome data), RNA reads (metatranscriptome data), peptide sequences (metaproteomics data) and, using a suitable synonyms file that maps SILVA ids to taxonids, for 16S rRNA data (amplicon sequencing).<\/p>\n<h2>Restrictions on use<\/h2>\n<p>Community Edition: The Community Edition of this program is free software: and released under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free SoftwareFoundation, either version 3 of the License.
